Baker is a family friendly city and is well known for its many attractive and well-planned neighborhoods. Residents enjoy easy access to a complete range of community services, including the Baton Rouge metropolitan zoo and dozens of churches serving all denominations.

The City has a vast amount of "Green Space" with over a dozen parks encompassing 1,000 acres. A park is located within two miles of every home and the City features 10 miles of hiking and nature trails. Baker residents are able to enjoy many outdoor activities with water skiing, golf, soccer and more less than fifteen minutes away.

There are over 10,000 students in 12 schools from grades K-12 in the Baker School District. Nationally acclaimed for students' high SAT scores, Baker schools have formed strong partnerships with area businesses. Several highly regarded private schools as well as some of the region's best state universities and community colleges are located within 15-miles of Baker.
